Winshape Camp

A few weeks ago the boys went to Winshape camp. It is the camp that Chick-fil-A puts on. It is awesome. They have several different studies you can do. Anything from weird science to digital photography.

Jon signed up for flag football, secret opps, and music. He enjoyed secret opps the best. They had them go all over the church taking part in secret operations. Wesley wanted to do net games, basketball, and weird science. Net games is with a volleyball net and they teach different games. Weird science is just that...the last day the planted a seed in a papertowel in a ziplock bag to watch it grow.

The camp was from 7:45a to 5p. It was a long day for them. Friday was family day. Mike, Renee and myself went to see what all they had done. It was fun we got to go into the different classes with them and watch them. It was a half day and they serve lunch...Chick-fil-A of course. :)

We had a great time. Here are some pictures/videos from Friday Family Fun Day.

This is Tom, our Recreational Minister. We were greeted by this every morning. Along with him blowing his whistle that is around his neck and him yelling "GOOD MORNING. WELCOME TO WINSHAPE, COME HAVE FUN!". For those of you that are not morning people like me, you understand. (I forgive you Tom, there are no hard feelings :)

Jon at flag football.

Renee wanted to play too.

Wesley and Renee playing against each other in basketball.

Winshape music class. They had to watch the teacher to see when to play loud and quite.

Here is a video of Wesley at Winshape camp playing basketball.
When they spiked the ball he ran the wrong way. :)

Words of wisdom...or not!

Here are a few quotes from the last week or so.

The kids were making faces with their eyes and Renee says... "Chad look. I can blink" Then started opening and closing her eyes really fast.

Wesley asked Aunt Tori for a cookie and she said she would give him a one if he gave her a big hug. Wesley said... "If I squeeze you real tight can I get 2?"

The kids went and stayed with nanny for a few days this weekend. Nanny says to Renee "I like those cute little pants. Where did you get them from?" Renee says..."Ummm, in my suitcase."

We were riding in the car this week and Renee says to me "I love you". So I said "I love you to, do you know how different my life was without you" Renee says "FUN". LOL

Renee's translation:

Trampoline = Jump a line
Love you like a fat kid loves cake = Love you like a fat cake
Wifi = Wirefire
Dump truck =  Dumb truck
Grandma = Dram ma
Love = Lub
Wesley = Wefley
Excited = E site ted

Our kids love lettuce. It is so funny. When we go out to eat and they ask for a side of lettuce with their meal. (no dressing or anything just dry lettuce) Mike took them to a seafood restaurant where they put kale on the side of your plate. He called me after the meal and said he had to beg them not to eat the kale.  :)

WOW...that is all I can say

We have been so incredibly busy this last week...

We were going to leave on July 3rd to visit family for the 4th. Mike and I had a meeting at our house on Friday the 6th. The kids were going to stay until Wednesday the 11th for their summer fun with the Grands.

On Monday afternoon Mike's mom brought his niece to the house to meet her mom (our house is in the middle). They also met at the house for me to do their hair. While his mom was still there our air broke. YAY... not. So the kids and myself were going to go ahead and go a day early and Mike would come the next day. Try packing for 5... okay now give yourself 30 minutes to do it and see how it goes. :) I quickly ran throughout the house throwing things in bags and trying not to forget anything. But if I did I was ok... it would just come with Mike. Luckily I did a great job and all was well. So we left and headed for Callahan (our hometown).

Mike googled what broke on the air and was going to try to fix it himself. For those of you that don't believe you read that correct I will say it again... going to try to fix it himself. :) Mike has never been the handy type. His motto "Let's call someone" :) So when I got the call that said I have figured out the problem and now just have to get the part I was shocked. The next problem...you have to find a repairman to sell you the part because you cannot just go out and purchase it. So Mike called a couple of AC companies and got nowhere. He called a friend that has a friend that owns his own AC business and he was going to get it for us. Oh btw it was a $22 part. So when he got it the guy told him he didn't have to pay him...he had extras. WOW THANK YOU! Not only did you save us $250 because we did have to call someone out and pay a service fee... you give us the part. That's awesome. So our friend came over to help Mike put it in. Thanks Chris!! And in no time I received the call that the AC was fixed...even better...for free!!! I am so proud of my new handy man!

Tuesday Nanny (Mike's mom) had to go to work. So Nana (my mom) came over to her house and went swimming with us. Wesley started swimming from one end of the pool to the next all by himself. He has always been able to do it but always too scared. He hasn't put armies back on since. Renee would jump in and swim a few strokes with out hers on. (That started tuesday also). Jon early in the summer was swimming without any help.  I am so proud of them.

We get a call on Tuesday night around 6 from Mike's Grandparents that live next door to his Parents that Grandpa had fallen. So Pop (that is what the kids call Mike's dad) went to go help. He came back about 30 minutes later and said he had hit his arm and his right side but that he would be ok. Mike arrived about 8:30 and his dad was telling him about it and that he would need to take him to the doctor the next day. Yes on the 4th. So Mike said he would go with him and help him out. The next morning they go down there to see blood on the floor next to the bed in his room. Down the hall where he had walked. In the bathroom. It was all over the place. Grandpa was in a lot of pain and said he could not move without pain killers. (For Grandpa to ask for medicine is unheard of...so they knew he was in a lot of pain). Mike called the ambulance and had them come and help transport him so they could get some meds in him. While they were gone we were at the 4th party and Mike's parents house. Swimming and eating lunch. We get a call about 1:30 that pop was on his way home. He had no breaks and the cut was all fixed up and ready to come home. They arrived back about 2:30 and Mike left to go get his prescription filled. Jennie (Mike's sister) and I stayed at the house to wait and talk to Grandpa.

Grandpa and Grandma have been married for 75 1/2 years. Jennie asked how long they have been married and I said "75 years" and Grandpa corrected me and said "75 1/2" so sweet. :) Jennie went with me to take Grandma back to the house so she could be there when Grandpa walked in. When Grandpa walked in Grandma said 'Allen I am so happy to see you. I didn't even get to tell you goodbye. You are back so soon. I am glad you are okay. I have your dinner in there waiting on you". It was so sweet. When Grandpa was done with lunch and fixing to get up to go back to his chair Grandma walked over with her walker set it to the side so that she could get his for him. I pray that we have a marriage like theirs.

After we got the meds for Grandpa and told him when to take them we headed back down for the party. Mike did get to eat and swim a little. That night we did fireworks. Mike went all out this year since this is the first time the kids have watch fireworks on the 4th. We had a great time.

Laying in bed that night around 11:30 my mom sent me a text that said my Grandma (Dad's mom) went by paramedics to the ER. That she had a massive heart attack. We went to go visit her on Thursday morning. The kids were really upset that they could not see her. The ICU rule is you have to be 12 to come in. Renee really wanted to tell them she was 12 so she could go back. :) I was able to see her for a little bit. She was all hooked up to machines so she could not talk and was a little out of it. After that we went shopping had lunch and came home. I had a really bad headache so I was laying down for a few minutes and my mom texted Mike and told him I needed to come to the hospital right then that they were taking the machines off of her. The doctors told the family that after removing the machines it could be minutes to days to months or even years. Grandma has a heart disease that is incurable. They took her off of the machines about 5 minutes before I could make it there. The family had already been quickly going in to see her. We have a large family and they wanted everyone to have the chance so it was go in for a few minutes and back out for the next ones to go in. I wasn't going to go in. I am not good in those situations and especially if it was going to be worse than that morning. But once I arrived everyone told me that I needed to go in. That she looked really good and was able to be herself. So I went with my sister in to see her. My cousin Ryan and his new wife, Rachel were in there already. Ryan is crazy! That is all I can say. He had all of us laughing so hard. After I saw her the visiting hours closed for about an hour so about 1/2 of us went downstairs to get a bite to eat. I left shortly after. The doctors were amazed at how well she did once taking her off of the machines. She got stronger, her vitals were good, and she was able to be herself. Needless to say she is doing well and ready to get out of the hospital. YAY!!! We have a fighter on our hands. I joke and say she just wanted to have a impromptu family gathering.  :)

 OKAY... so how much more can one family take... right... they say it comes in 3's and this was the case for us.

Mike and I said our goodbyes and headed back to Gainesville to get ready for our meeting. It went well and on Saturday we had some friends invite us to go with them down the ichetucknee. FREEZING COLD, but worth it after you get so hot sitting on the tubes in the sun. Thanks Hamlett family for the invite. We had a great time.

So here I am without kids at home and Mike is gone to work. This is a great vacation. :)

Here are some pictures of this week. (Mostly from our parents texting them to us!)
